Art Lounge Manila is proud to present Ed Uygongco’s debut solo exhibition entitled “Where the Sky Meets the Sea.” The exhibition showcases a collection of the 93-year-old artist’s ethereal seascapes that demonstrate his attention to detail and masterful strokes that are so evident in his works.

Ed Uygongco’s works are a reflection of his deep appreciation for the natural world, particularly the beauty of the sea. In this exhibition, we see a meeting of horizons where east meets west. Although some of the works subjects are decidedly western or decidedly Asian, his execution is consistently Oriental and conveys a sense of peace and calm where everything is in perfect balance and harmony.

The exhibition runs from June 2nd to June 15th, 2023 at Art Lounge Manila in Molito, Alabang. Visitors will be able to view a collection of 32 of Uygongco’s watercolor paintings which showcase his signature style of seascapes. Uygongco’s paintings are not just an expression of his artistic talent but also a reflection of his deep love and respect for the sea.

One of the most striking features of Uygongco’s paintings is the attention to detail in his brushstrokes. His technique is both delicate and precise, conveying a sense of movement and fluidity in the water. Uygongco’s seascapes are composed of layers of transparent washes that create a subtle interplay of light and shadow. His ability to capture the essence of the sea is evident in the way he renders the waves, the foam, and the reflections of the sky in the water.
