Flowers have long been a source of inspiration for artists, and this exhibition showcases the beauty and diversity of floral art. The art- works range from traditional still lifes to contemporary pieces that blur the boundaries between realism and abstraction. Through their use of color, texture, and composition, the artists have captured the essence of flowers and the emotions they evoke.
Motherhood is another theme that runs through this exhibition. From the moment of conception to the joys and challenges of raising children, mothers play a vital role in our lives. The artworks on display celebrate the strength, resilience, and love that mothers embody. They also explore the complex relationship between mother and child, and the many different forms that this relationship can take.
One of the highlights of this exhibition is the range of mediums used by the artists. There are paintings, sculptures, and mixed media pieces, each with its own unique style and message. The diversity of the artworks on display reflects the range of emotions and experiences that flowers and motherhood can evoke.
One of the standout pieces in this exhibition is “Lilies” by Francis Nacion in collaboration with An Mercado-Alcantara. This painted terracotta sculpture depicts a mother and her children in a tender embrace. The use of warm tones and playful brushstrokes creates a sense of tenderness and joy between the figures. The sculpture captures the essence of the special bond that exists between a mother and her child.
Another standout piece is “Geometric Bouquet” by Janos Delacruz. This mixed media piece combines acrylic paint, collagraph, and disparate elements to create a vibrant and dynamic composition. The use of bright colors and bold shapes creates a sense of energy and movement, and the flowers seem to leap off the canvas. The piece celebrates the power and beauty of flowers, and the joy they can bring to our lives.
We are also proud to feature several emerging artists in this exhibition. These artists bring a fresh perspective to the themes of flowers and motherhood, and their work is a testament to the diverse and dynamic nature of the art world.
One of these emerging artists is Julie Gil, whose photographic watercolor painting “Better Together” captures the beauty of a single flower and Bees in exquisite detail. The use of a stark black back- ground creates a sense of timelessness and elegance, and the focus on the flower’s intricate details invites the viewer to appreciate the beauty of nature in a more intimate way.
Another emerging artist is Wrachelle Cablog, whose mixed media work “Transient Beauty” explores the theme of motherhood through the metaphor of flowers by the use of texture and color. The painting is rendered on a circular canvas and features cherry blossoms surrounded two hummingbirds. The golden wash and texture evokes distant blooms diffused by sunlight that creates a sense of nostalgia and raw emotion. The piece celebrates the warmth and tenderness of mothers, and the many ways in which they can nurture and care for their children and those around them.
